On the Linux Side of Things Today

Today’s part of my current side quest has me over on the Linux side of things. I can hear it now “But everything’s good on Windows.” Not really. At least not for me right now. I like to have full control of my PC especially if I drop over $300 on it. That’s where one of my gripes with Windows is AND I also understand why it’s “locked down.”

Windows has training wheels that block scripts by default. It’s good because it could keep people from letting folks backdoor the user because they click on the wrong thing or ran the wrong script. The average user doesn’t give a damn about it, and at times, I don’t either. I just want to work.

Then there’s a time like now where I’m looking for a better job and doing side quests where I want to push the limits of my computer and learn more about it. So, here I am on Mint, messing around with the terminal even though I don’t have to.

What’s cool about it is that I’m seeing all the processes that goes into operation, but at the same time I’m kinda glad I’m not a CS Major with dreams of building my own OS because, damn, y’all see all that shit that goes on behind the scenes?

Another good thing happening while searching for better work happens Friday – 48 in 48 where I get to be a Content Manager for a third or fourth time.

Fact: I worked with content in my last full-time job in UX last year.
